UAE holds the 20th position in the 2018 World Happiness Report according to a recent article by Arabian Business.

Earth Institute at Columbia University and the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network published the report and also included that Emiratis are ranked as the 11th happiest nationality.

This year’s report primarily surveyed the level of happiness among the UAE expatriate population and used the result as one of the main indicators to rank the country.

UAE came first in the following metrics – convenience of city for people from different countries to live in, percentage of full-time employed population, satisfaction with efforts to preserve the environment, being healthy to perform daily activities, satisfaction with roads and highways, and availability of mobile phone for personal calls.

Additionally, UAE was ranked second place in overall satisfaction with the availability of quality healthcare, and belief that children in the country are treated with respect.

Finland placed first as the happiest country in the world in the World Happiness Report 2018.

Other countries in the top ten list includes Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden, and Australia.
The World Happiness Report 2018 ranks 156 countries by their happiness levels, and 117 countries by the happiness of their immigrants.
