Emaar and Dubai Holding Launches World’s Largest Mall
Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding have officially launched a colossal “tech-driven” shopping destination within Dubai Creek Harbour, called Dubai Square.
This mall will be spread over 8.07 million sq. ft. of retail space which is twice the total leasing area of Dubai Mall. Dubai Square mall will be constructed in the centre of Dubai Creek Harbour and will be three stories tall and will feature Middle East’s largest Chinatown, a district dedicated to Art, an events arena and several luxury retail, entertainment and dining options along with a water theme park and a cinema theatre.
Future customers will also be given the option to shop on-the-go at Dubai Square Mall via their computers and cell phones.
Digital based services will feature mobile applications with options to check-out, search and scan barcodes, payments via mobile, and click and collect services.
Dubai Square mall plans to be a one stop shop for diverse retail options which is why they will showcase retailers from several categories including computing, automotive, 3D printing, artificial intelligence and sustainable technology.
The ground floor of Dubai Square will be allocated to events only featuring an events arena and other spaces for street events. In addition, the entertainment area will promote 3D projections, high wire rigs, state-of-the-art theatre lights and sounds to hold acrobatic performances, exhibitions, and celebrity performances.
The first floor, however, will have a four lanes of distinct dining, retail and leisure experiences. The fashion section of retail will provide VIP dressing rooms, and fitting rooms with interactive mirrors, personalized AI recommendations, and sustainable fashion like 3D printed clothing and accessories.
The dining outlets will include a variety of interesting cuisines like vegan, Peruvian, and fusion and will feature special digital apps for ordering food with the intent to minimize long waiting lines. Visitors will also have the choice of live cooking stations, organic food markets, pop-up stores and on-the-go F&B outlets.
The second floor plans to have a metro link, a supermarket, a water park, sports area, and an ice themed adventure park.
Dubai Square’s Art District will large scale art concerts, year-round events that will promote different art forms like dance, drama, literature, photography, cinema, installations, sculptures, paintings and performance art. Art by Emaar will be responsible for heading this Art District.
Dubai Square Mall will have direct underground access to Dubai Creek Tower – Dubai’s tallest tower.
Dubai Square Mall is projected to drive sales to Dubai by reaching over $43.8 bn (AED 160 bn) by 2021 with estimated influx of 20 million tourists by 2020.

Emaar’s master development Dubai Creek Harbour will have 7.3 million sq. m worth of residential space, nearly 940,000 sq. m of retail outlet area, 300,000 sq. m of commercial space, over 66,000 sq. m of culture outlet space, 700,000 sq. m of parks and open spaces, and 24 hotels with 5,800 rooms.
